4 Tips to buying your first house

#1:  Instead of paying someone else, pay yourself and invest!

The Johnsons were living in downtown SLC before they purchased their house. They were paying so much money for a small space.. plus they have big dogs, so the space really just wasn't fitting their lifestyle. So instead of paying for their landlords mortgage, they decided it was time to invest in themselves and their future with a house!

#2: Trust your gut!

"We walked through a TON of houses, and then we walked into the house {the house they needed up purchasing} and just knew!" They both knew that as soon as they walked into the house, that it was the one that felt right. They had even put offers down on other houses, but they had a feeling that this one was special. "It just had a whole other feeling too it.. it felt like home" said Kaylie.

#3: Get prequalified first

Kaylie and Spencer got prequalified 7 months before they even started going out and looking at houses! Seven whole months! They explained that by having that knowledge about what they can actually afford out of home made shopping for one much less daunting because they already knew their limit and were able to focus on it. Getting prequalified really helped make their experience so much better.

#4 Work with people you trust

Buying a house was difficult, definitely not a walk in the park. But Kaylie and Spencer talked about how big of a difference working with their specific Loan Officer and Real Estate agent made their whole experience. "We came into this situation knowing literally nothing about how to buy a house, but our Loan Officer and his team were able to walk us through it step by step and explained everything along the way. Who we worked with really did make this entire experience amazing.
